Soccer has steadily gained momentum as part of the Montana High School Association’s (MHSA) sanctioned activities, first making its debut during the 1991–1992 school year. That year, six schools participated in the inaugural interscholastic season, culminating in the first state championships for both boys and girls. Since then, the sport has expanded across the state and now includes two classifications: Class AA and Class A. Schools compete in an eight-team playoff format, also granting home-site advantage each week. Today, MHSA soccer continues to grow, showcasing skill, strategy, and school pride across Montana’s high school communities.
