MHSA Outstanding Leadership Performance Award presented by Western Native Voice
The MHSA Outstanding Leadership Performance Award honors students, teams, and groups who exhibit exceptional leadership within their communities. This prestigious award recognizes individuals and teams whose leadership and service have made a lasting impact. Whether on athletic fields, in classrooms, or through community involvement, positive leadership is a fundamental value of the MHSA. We are excited to celebrate these remarkable leaders through this program, generously sponsored by Western Native Voice.
Nominations are open to those who have demonstrated exemplary leadership, with winners selected from across the 182 MHSA Member Schools. One winner will be chosen for each season: Fall, Winter, and Spring.
Award Components:
The selected winner(s) will receive:
- A co-branded plaque—one for the recipient(s) and one to be displayed at the Western Native Voice office.
- Public recognition through social media and the MHSA official website.
We look forward to honoring these outstanding leaders and celebrating the positive difference they are making in their communities.

Breylei Takes Enemy
Plenty Coups High School
Breylei Takes Enemy leads through service, initiative, and school pride. As Student Council President and Class Vice President, she has organized fundraisers, pep rallies, assemblies, and other activities that bring students together. A dedicated volunteer, mentor, athlete, and role model, Breylei consistently steps forward to support her classmates, younger students, and school community.
Julia Kay
Flathead High School
Julia Kay’s leadership extends far beyond competition. A captain of multiple sports teams, she has mentored younger athletes, organized extra training opportunities, coached youth programs, officiated local events, and volunteered throughout her community. Whether supporting teammates, helping local families, or serving those in need, Julia demonstrates the positive impact one student can make through service and leadership.
Rori Schoenfeld
East Helena High School
Rori Schoenfeld has built an impressive legacy of leadership through academics, athletics, and student involvement. A Valedictorian, Student Body President, National Honor Society member, and three-sport athlete, she has consistently led by example. Through her work with youth sports, Special Olympics, the MHSA Student Advisory Council, and her school’s advisory council, Rori has used her voice to make a meaningful difference in her school and community.
