Music has long played a vital role in Montana’s high school experience, enriching students’ lives and bringing communities together through performance and tradition. Since its early years, the Montana High School Association (MHSA) has proudly sanctioned participation in band, chorus, and orchestra, recognizing music as an essential part of a well-rounded education. Each spring, twelve district music festivals showcase student talent across the state, leading to the prestigious State Solo & Ensemble Festivals. In October, the All-State Band, Chorus, and Orchestra Festival highlights Montana’s top student musicians, selected by audition, in a celebration of excellence and artistry that resonates far beyond the stage.
