Volleyball state champions were named for the first time in 1984-in two classes: AA-A and B-C. In 1986 there were enough teams playing to name three honorees: AA, A and B-C. Finally by 1987 there were the four Montana classes as there were in other sports. The sport was switched from a winter sport to a fall sport in 2002-03.

First Practice Day:  Monday, August 15, 2011
*First Day for Competition:  Friday, August 26, 2011
State Championship Dates:  November 10-12, 2011

*No individual shall play in any Association contest until she has a minimum of ten (10) days of volleyball practice of at least one practice session per day on ten (10) different days (no practice permitted on Sunday), prior to the date of the first allowable match.
