Girls' fast pitch softball was sanctioned in 1986 for the first time and it has grown in numbers at a steady pace since that time. There was one class the first year through 1991. In 1992, AA and A-B were split into separate classifications and champions were crowned in each classification.  In 1997 classes A and B were also separated.
In 1999, some class C schools began to participate forming the B-C classification and now three state tournaments are staged

Important dates - 2011-12 Season

First Practice Day:  March 12, 2012
*First Day for Competition:
  March 23, 2012
State Tournament Dates:
May 24-26, 2012

*No individual shall play in any Association softball contest until she has a minimum of ten (10) days of softball practice of at least one practice session per day on ten (10) different days (no practice permitted on Sunday), prior to the date of the first allowable game.
