MHSA sanctioned golf for boys in 1928 and for girls in 1936. Only individual champions were recognized in those early years. Schools' team scores were not kept until 1956 for boys and 1966 for girls. Separate classifications were not recognized until 1978 when separate boys' and girls' team/individual champions were honored by classification. Currently AA and A play in the fall, B and C play in the spring.

Fall Golf -

First Practice Day:  Thursday, August 11, 2011
*First Day for Competition:  Monday, August 15, 2011
State Championship Dates:  September 30 - October 1, 2011

*No individual shall play in any association golf contest until he/she has a minimum of three (3) days of practice of at least one practice session per day on three (3) different days (no practice permitted on Sunday) prior to the date of the first allowable game.

Spring Golf -

First Practice Day:  Monday, March 12, 2011
*First Day for Competition:  Thursday, March 15, 2011
State Tournament Dates:  May 14-19, 2011

*No individual shall play in any association golf contest until he/she has a minimum of three (3) days of practice of at least one practice session per day on three (3) different days (no practice permitted on Sunday) prior to the date of the first allowable game.

2011 MHSA Fall Golf Rules Clinic (Class AA and A Only) is now online.  Class B and C Coaches will not receive credit for watching this clinic, as they will be required to watch the spring rules clinic for golf.  The Fall Golf Rules Clinics must be viewed by all coaches (Head, Assistant and Volunteer) prior to August 15, 2011 in order to receive credit.
